Hello folks!
Everything is rejoicing in this spring sun. Our potato plants are now reaching a foot high, 14 new lambs are frolicking and the cows are grateful for an abundance of fresh forage. Pretty soon, our spring chicks will be laying their first eggs. We are doing our best to stay focused amongst the busyness!
This year we look forward to sustaining ourselves, selling abundance at the farmer’s market, and most of all continuing Henning and Elizabeth’s “Feed the Hungry Project”, which provides a weekly wholesome CSA share to six families in need on the island. It is important to note that the funding for these shares is provided by neighboring faith and service communities on Lopez. We are so thankful.
Here are some pictures to illustrate current spring happenings:
Cal White and Fingerling Potatoes in the process of getting mulched.
Spring chicks, almost 5 months old.
Active bees!
Henning’s raw milk cheese creations.
Our dairy cow Abby with her newest calf, Cassiopeia, who was born in February.
I have to get back out there now and finish setting up irrigation for the potatoes, look for more updates soon!
Katie
